A tragic traffic accident caused a great stir on Thursday morning on the federal highway 99 in the direction of Salzburg. At around 11:20 a.m., a serious incident occurred at the Kirchheim junction in the Munich district, in which not only traffic was massively affected, but several people were also injured. According to initial police investigations, a 27-year-old drove his vehicle into a concrete wall. The car stopped in the left lane, causing a subsequent accident that affected the 73-year-old driver and his 79-year-old wife.
The 79-year-old, who was sitting in her husband's vehicle, was taken to hospital after the collision, where she unfortunately died from her serious injuries. Her husband and a granddaughter, who were also involved, were not uninjured. A 19-year-old who was traveling in a van swerved and collided with the 73-year-old's car, in which he and his passenger were also seriously injured. A total of four people were affected in the accident, according to a report from Evening newspaper led to significant traffic disruptions.
Hours of closures and backlogs
The A99 was completely closed for around ten hours as a result of the accident. How Mercury Reportedly, a kilometer-long backlog formed, which further aggravated the traffic situation. The Hohenbrunn motorway maintenance department and the fire departments from Kirchheim and Feldkirchen were on site to secure the situation and ensure that traffic could flow again as quickly as possible.
