Culture and mourning: Exciting events in Salzburg today!
What will happen in Salzburg on November 3rd, 2025? A look at today's event landscape shows a colorful mix of theater, concerts and options for grief support. The city offers numerous opportunities to experience culture and community.
Things get exciting in the afternoon at Franz-Josef-Straße 2 when TheaterlaborX takes the stage with “hello again” at 5:30 p.m. Applied Theater students do their best, entry is free. Whether in the theater or at one of the concerts, lovers of good music won't be bored today.
A musical experience
The Mozarteum University Salzburg will present new works by talented composition students at 7 p.m. Included are Elisa Azzarà, Matej Bundela, Maria Flavia Cerrato, George Lolas, Lorenzo Derinni and Margarethe Maierhofer-Lischka, under the direction of Leonhard Garms. You should also secure free tickets for the organ concert in Salzburg Cathedral at 12:00. And for classical music lovers, there are the Mozart Violin Sonatas at 5 p.m. in the Romanesque Hall of St. Peter's Archabbey and piano concerts at 3 p.m. in the Franciscan Monastery.
After your senses have been pampered with music, you can take part in a reading and a conversation with Clemens J. Setz at 7:30 p.m. in the Literaturhaus Salzburg. The event “The Book of the Film” promises an exciting dialogue. And the cheerful group of “Sketches from the Coffee House” also invites you to a group reading at 6 p.m. in the Café Bazar - there is also no charge for admission here.
Valuable conversations about grief
A particularly important point in today's program is the open grief group, which will be offered at St. Virgil, Ernst-Grein-Straße 14, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This initiative is led by grief counselors from the Salzburg Hospice Movement and provides valuable support for people who do not want to be alone in their grief. Because as the hospice movement emphasizes, grief is a natural part of life that requires time and space to process. DHPV calls it a central requirement to maintain and further develop a culture of mourning in order to ensure the quality of mourning offers.
The book reading and discussion “Between the Times – Designing Funeral Rituals, Supporting Mourners,” which will take place on October 29, 2025 in Ahrensburg, also aims to impart knowledge about grieving processes and support in times of crisis. The two authors Sophie Warning and Jan Möllers offer valuable insights into the design of funeral rituals.
A varied supporting program
Those interested can also take part in guided tours. A tour of the Georg Trakl Research and Memorial Center starts at 2:00 p.m., and a public tour of the cathedral is also scheduled at 2:00 p.m. For those of us who enjoy exercise, there will be a folk dance course in the Lainerhof from 7:30 p.m. At the city library, the book bus rolls through the Gnigl and Parsch districts from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The events in Flachgau and Lungau also promise an exciting day. Interesting specialist lectures can be heard in Bad Vigaun and children can have a lot of fun singing openly in Altenmarkt. Whether it's about music, art, literature or coping with grief, Salzburg is once again becoming a place where culture is lived!
