On October 30, 2025, Toni Meggle, the long-time owner of the renowned dairy company Meggle, died at the age of 94. The sad news was officially announced on Thursday. Meggle, who was the third generation to run the family business, joined the company in 1956 and took over responsibility as co-partner and managing director in 1960. Under his leadership, the company founded by his grandfather in 1886 developed from a regional operation into an international group with locations in countries such as Japan, the USA and Brazil Meggle Group reported.
Particularly noteworthy is the establishment of the first foreign branch in Japan in 1977, which laid the foundation for global expansion. Meggle was known for his cooperative leadership style and sense of responsibility towards his employees. He was also actively involved in various business organizations, including the German Dairy Industry Association, which had him as chairman for many years. With his initiatives he made a significant contribution to the harmonization of milk policy in Europe.
A lasting legacy
The entrepreneur will be remembered not only as a great businessman, but also as a socially committed personality with a big heart. He was active in numerous cultural, social and regional projects. In 2019, Toni Meggle brought the group of companies into the foundation named after him in order to ensure the company's independence and maintain jobs. According to the foundation's statutes, a sale of the company is ruled out, which shows how important the continuity and stability of the business was to him.
Toni Meggle was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit First Class and the Bavarian Order of Merit for his services. His wife Marina Meggle will continue his legacy as deputy chairwoman of the foundation's board and ensure that the founder's values and philosophy continue to be lived in the company.
