Today, November 12, 2025, it's time to raise the curtain again at the exciting pocket opera festival in Salzburg. Based on Thomas Mann, Elias Canetti and Hannah Arendt, the conflict-laden story about Mario, a bar waiter, and Luigi, a speculator, unfolds. These two main characters are in the ring with Cipolla, who, with his hypnotic power, threatens to decide the fate of their village between tourism and idyll.
Director Thierry Bruehl presents the work in an exciting production in which singing and dramatic scenes intertwine. The little stars in the theater, the children's choir, will also delight the audience with Italian opera melodies that contrast with modern sounds.
