New sculpture park in Salzburg: Artwork Incontro a Due opened!
Work is progressing in Salzburg: On October 2, 2025, the impressive sculpture "Incontro a Due" by Sandro Scarmiglia was officially set up in front of the Salzburg Literature House. This meter-high, white coated stable made of cement plaster, which was made of clay, announces a new artistic section for the Stadtwerk site. This is a loan that is initially available for five years and which could cause a sensation with a value of 10,000 euros.
The sculpture had to be admired in the Hellbrunn Schlosspark as part of the "Incontro" exhibition until the end of September 2025. There is a lot of potential in Salzburg: The project was launched by the Salzburg artist and cultural mediator Wolfgang Richter and Tomas Friedmann, the head of the literary house. Friedmann has big plans, because he would like to open the historic Eizenbergerhof as a location for further art projects and one day build a small sculpture park at the literary house in order to move curious to the district.
Art and culture united
Wolfgang Richter has already taken the first step towards promoting art. He has proven his "good hand" and exhibited his works, while Wolfgang Eibl should also step onto the stage for 2026. In order to support the art part, signed graphics are sold in the literary house in a circulation of 25 pieces at a price of 150 euros before Christmas. The money from these sales and donations from Salzburg artists are used to finance the project.
Sandro Scarmiglia, born in Rome in 1964, is not only a painter, but also made a name for himself as a costume and stage designer. His change to sculpture led to the foundation of the Terra Arte sculpture park in Blera, Italy, and now he brings international spice to the Salzburg art scene with his work.
A look across the borders
The Austrian sculpture park is also a remarkable place in the Austrian cultural landscape. This was founded in the Graz area in 2003 and extends over around seven hectares. More than sixty sculptures by well -known artists such as Fritz Wotruba, Franz West and Heimo Zobernig can be admired there. It is not only a place of admiration, but also a popular venue for contemporary art. Visitors can look forward to impressive works that come into their own through the landscape.
The lively art scene in Salzburg and beyond shows that sculptures not only have their place in the museum, but also outdoors. Whether in the Hellbrunner Park or at the literary house - the joy of art is omnipresent, and it remains to be hoped that these initiatives continue to attract art lovers and contribute to cultural enrichment.
