Celebration for the 425th anniversary: Trumer brewery inspires with tradition and innovation!
On September 16, 2025, an impressive festival took place in Salzburg in honor of the Trumer private brewery. In view of the more than 400 -year -old brewing tradition of the region, leading representatives from business, culture and politics came together to celebrate the long history and success of the brewery. The highly valued entrepreneurial family Sigl was awarded the Salzburg Economic Crystal by WKS Vice President Manfred Rosenstatter, which underlines the importance of the brewery for the local economy.
The Trumer private brewery, founded in 1601, is one of the oldest family -run breweries in Austria. Josef Sigl I acquired her in 1775, and since 2013 Josef "Seppi" Sigl has been leading the eighth generation brewery. With around 50 employees, the company not only has a tradition, but also a clear vision: ecologically, socially and culturally sustainable. This can be seen, among other things, in the introduction of a vegetable milk alternative called "Bio Hafer & Geste" in 2022 and the Slow Brewing Certification, which Trumer received as the first local brewery in 2012.
Awards and international presence
What is special about Trumer Pils is not only the high quality, but also international recognition. The brewery won gold medals for its Pils in renowned competitions such as the World Beer Cup and the European Beer Star. Another highlight: since 2004 the Trumer Pils has also been very popular in the USA. Instead of importing the beer from Austria, a sister brewery in Berkeley, California, was founded that uses the same recipe. Trumer Berkeley has achieved fabulous 21 gold medals in the past two decades and has now been considered the most excellent Pilsner in the world, as Trumer USA.
It is important for the brewery to make a strategic decision in the niche market for Pils, which Josef Sigl VII made between 1985 and 2013. This foresight pays off and the product is very popular on the international parquet.
Beer culture in Austria
Beer has a long and eventful story in Austria that goes back over 1,200 years. Today the country is known for its high density of beer sommeliers and a variety of brewer. There are currently over 298 breweries in Austria, including the oldest still producing brewery, the Hofstetten brewery, which has been active since 1229. The most popular beer variety in Austria is the warehouse or male beer, which makes up more than 60 percent of the beer consumed, as [Wikipedia] (https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/bier_ar_%C3%96 austria).
The Trumer brewery is not only a figurehead for high -quality beer, but also a symbol of Austria's rich brewing culture. At a time when local production and sustainability are becoming increasingly important, Trumer remains a prime example of how tradition and innovation can go hand in hand.
A modern loading road in wooden construction and the expansion of the warehouse tank capacities speak for the future-oriented orientation of the company. With a clear focus on the needs of customers and the environment, the Trumer private brewery can also be well positioned for the coming generations.
