Austria Salzburg in transition: new faces and old challenges!
In Salzburg, football is still a big topic everywhere - and not only because of the big names like Red Bull Salzburg, but also because of the up -and -coming teams in the 2nd division. Austria Salzburg moved a lot last season, but the path is not always easy. After the "bulls" started in the Bundesliga, the Neo second division team is now facing his own challenge. How salzburg24.at reports, the team experienced some changes, not only on the field, but also in the squad.
After a mixed first half of the season, Austria Salzburg said goodbye to five key players from the championship team. These include Johannes Zottl, Aaron Volkert, Gavrilo Fonjga, Nico Schiedermeier and Milos Savic, who is now continuing his career at Achyronas FC in Cyprus. These players had oral promises, but could not assert themselves in the 2nd league. Only three players-Sebastian Aigner, Denis Kahrimanovic and Luka-Nils Sandmayr-still have a central role in the team.
Tearful farewell and new impulses
The departures hurt, but there is still a look into the future: coach Christian Schaider plans to talk to each player about their individual situation. So far, Austria has won 11 points from 9 games and finally celebrated an important 4-2 win against Hertha Wels. This success has increased the distance to the relegation zone to six points.
However, the challenges are obvious: the former master players have a hard time getting playing time. Names like Manuel Kalman, Semir Gvozdjar and Alexander Schwaighofer currently have minimal use. René Zia may think about a career end, while the others are fighting for their uses. Kahrimanovic describes the enormous competition in the team: "The pressure to assert itself is huge," said the player.
New additions as hope sponsors
New talents come to the team with fresh wind. The Austria Salzburg has presented three new additions since the start of the training: Tobias Pellegrini, Denizcan Cosgun and Yannic Fötschl. Pellegrini, 29 years old, brings experience from the 2nd league and can look back on 15 goals from 28 regional league games. Cosgun, who returns after a cruciate ligament rupture, hopes for a strong comeback phase, while Fötschl came free from Floridsdorf and also wants to stand on the pitch after breaks. These players could give the team the necessary boost to get back to the road to success.
The Austria responsible are already planning for the future and are looking for opportunities to raise the budget and further increase professionalism. In summer, cooperations could also be created with other clubs, such as the former club of sports director Roland Kirchler, Altach, to bind players to Austria who receive little play in the Bundesliga.
Football enthusiastic in Austria and with around 248,000 members in the Austrian Football Association is omnipresent. Especially in Lower Austria, where many players and clubs are located, the passion for the round leather becomes particularly noticeable. The Austria Salzburg is part of this large whole and has the potential to set accents in the 2nd league. With a powerful squad, the team could soon assert itself in the upper table region and regain the former fame.
