Strong network: Salzburg women are conquering the business world!
Around 160 women from various areas of business and media recently came together at Club Balboa in Salzburg for what is now the fifth Success Soirée. The event, which was organized and opened by Silvia Faulhammer, was a true highlight of female business. Topics such as lightness, openness and mutual support were emphasized here - values that are essential in today's business world. The aim of this meeting is to learn from each other, find inspiration and grow together.
The keynote speaker Sandra Lahnsteiner-Wagner, a well-known freerider, filmmaker and entrepreneur, spoke about courage and new paths in life in her lecture “The Magic of the First Line”. At her side, bestselling author Gabriele Wimmler and psychologist Elisabeth Adleff discussed “Courage & Mental Strength in Business” in the expert talk. The overall positive atmosphere and exchange made it clear that such events are important in making women visible and promoting networking among each other.
Strong together: Congress for women in leadership
Also of great importance for women in leadership positions is the first “Women in Leadership” congress, which took place on October 6, 2023 in the Casineum in Velden am Wörthersee. Organized by Gabriele and Thomas Stenitzer, the event was dedicated to the reasons for the underrepresentation of women in leadership positions. Exciting topics were covered, including mindset, leadership skills and visibility. A wide range of lectures, panel discussions and a cabaret program by Nadja Maleh ensured an informative and entertaining day.
Speakers like Sabine Asgodom and Klaus Schirmer thrilled participants with their inspiring topics, ranging from self-confidence to career pitfalls. The aim of the congress was to encourage women to express themselves and develop more in their professional positions. It was an important step in laying the foundations for a better work-life balance and increasing the visibility of women in leadership.
Progress through legal regulations
Another aspect that should not go unmentioned is the legislative framework that contributes to increasing the proportion of women in leadership positions. Since the leadership positions laws (FüPoG) came into force on May 1, 2015, we have been able to observe an increase in the proportion of women in various areas. The legally established quotas for supervisory boards and management bodies, which stipulate a minimum participation of 30% women, are part of this important development.
With the FüPoG II, which came into force on August 12, 2021, the regulations were improved again. Since August 1, 2022, listed companies have had to appoint at least one woman and one man to their board of directors. These legislative initiatives are crucial to further advancing equality between women and men and creating meaningful change in the world of work.
Overall, it shows that networking women and creating greater visibility spaces, as discussed at the Success Soirée, in combination with legal measures are crucial to achieving equality in leadership positions. These steps are important for both the participants in the events and for society as a whole.
Hopefully, such initiatives will continue to be popular and have a growing impact on the future of women in the world of work.
