An important musical contribution

The selection of the works for the opening is based, among other things, on the significant Missa Salisburgensis à 53 voci, who comes from Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber. This masterpiece is considered one of the most outstanding examples of sacred baroque music and combines complex choir parts with impressive instrumental sounds. It was premiered in 1682 on the occasion of the 1100th anniversary of the Archdiocese of Salzburg and ideally uses the acoustics of the Salzburg Cathedral. The style of the fair resembles Biber Vesperæ à 32 Voci and also has the compositions of Andreas Hofer.
